iPad Update Icons

I was the designer for an iPhone App named Transient Events a while back and didn't have the foresight to create the images and icons at a larger size then needed. So, I'm scaling up and re-creating them for our new iPad update. The app is an alert for "transient events"; basically anything that's moving or changing in the stars.

"Active Galactic Nucleus Variability"

Basically a galaxy with an active mass of energy in the center (most likely a black hole) it has an accretion disc surrounding it and a jet of light and emissions shooting out of the center.

Holiday Card

This is the design for the holiday card this year, it's a custom word cloud. Oodles of fun to make :)

AAS Exhibit

So this is the draft design for an exhibit for AAS (American Astronomical Society) meeting. It's the biggest meeting each year, well, not this year with the preliminary design review and all. AAS is always at the beginning of January so you have to work pretty hard to get everything done before the holidays. The idea for this display is two dimensional cutouts and fiber optic lights poking through for the stars. It's really impressive looking when complete. My supervisor Pete came up with the idea and used it for the NOAO airport display a couple of months ago. Not only is it eye catching but it's just plain fun to create. I love my job. :)
